Notice on foundling child found by the police

Pursuant to article 4 of the existing Terms and Conditions and Process for Granting Approval for Adoption of Nepali child by an Alien, 2065 (2008), an orphan child includes :

  • A foundling child found by the police
  • A foundling child found in a hospital
  • Whose father and mother are not traced or
  • Whose father and mother both are dead, any member, relative or heir is not traced and who does not have any property.

Regarding the Foundling child found by the police as mentioned above, many questions have been raised in different papers and electronic medias.

Diplomatic Missions have also raised doubts on such children. In view of this, the Ministry, until the other provision is made, has made a decision that the foundling child found by the police would not be granted for inter country adoption. The Ministry will make necessary arrangements for the protection of such child.

Notices

  • Adoption was suspended for three months (25th April to 25th July 2015) from the date of devastated earthquake in Nepal on 25th April 2015.
